Featured Candidate: Kimberly Rose, Democrat for Senate District 6

July 25, 2014 | By Katie McGinty, Chairwoman

Kimberly Rose wants to give Bucks County a fresh start.

That's why she is challenging longtime incumbent state Senator Tommy Tomlinson in the race for the 6th senate district in lower Bucks County.

"It's time for a change. It's time for a state senator who will defend our children, will stand up to Corbett's job-killing policies and disastrous billion-dollar cuts from our schools, and will protect women's right to make their own health care decisions."

Corbett's failed leadership puts Pennsylvania's economic future in danger

July 23, 2014 | By Mike Mikus, Senior Strategist

Earlier this week, Moody's Investment Service downgraded Pennsylvania's $11.1 billion general obligation bonds from Aa2 to Aa3 as a result of Tom Corbett's failed leadership and gimmick-ridden budget based on one-time revenues.

This bond downgrade -- the third in two years -- will not only make it more expensive for the state to borrow money, but it will also make it more expensive for public borrowers in the commonwealth, such as school districts, to borrow. This recent Aa3 rating makes Pennsylvania one of the top-six worst states out of the 47 states with general obligation debt in Moody's ratings.

Frederick Sheeler, a lifetime resident of Berks County, brings years of experience in public service, small business, and community service to his run for the 5th house district. Fred is currently serving his second term as Berks County's Recorder of Deeds, an office he found in disarray when he first was elected in 2007: the prior Recorder of Deeds had stolen more than $150,000 from taxpayers and eventually went to prison.

Video: It's a shame what Governor Corbett has done to Pennsylvania

July 15, 2014 | By Mike Mikus, Senior Strategist

It's a shame what Governor Corbett has done to Pennsylvania -- plunging our state into a $1.4 billion deficit, sinking us to 49th in job creation, and burdening seniors and families with soaring property taxes.

What's worse is knowing the deal Corbett cut to get us here.

Instead of funding public education and keeping his promise to make Pennsylvania number one in job creation, Corbett cut a billion dollars from schools while giving oil and gas companies a free ride.

We need voters across Pennsylvania to know about Governor Corbett's failed record, and that's why I'm asking you to watch and share our first ad.

Katie McGinty: Launching the Campaign for a Fresh Start

July 07, 2014 | By Katie McGinty, Chairwoman

Today, I'm excited to announce the launch of the Campaign for a Fresh Start, a new organization that is coordinating with Tom Wolf and House and Senate Democrats to help bring real change to Harrisburg.

I was honored when Tom asked me to serve as Chair of the Campaign for a Fresh Start, but I also know that we need all Pennsylvanians concerned about the future of our state standing with us if we're going to win in November.
